Information For Disabled Visitors To Chiang Mai

For the most part, what Chiang Mai city lacks in disabled access, it makes up for in kindness and hospitality.  The best way for disabled visitors to get around in Chiang Mai is to ask for access assistance – including accommodations, restaurants, post offices, and transportation.  Most Thais are very gracious about helping visitors.

Suriwonge Book Center, Airport Plaza, Robinson Department Store, Kaad Suan Kaew (Central Department Store) and several malls all have accessible toilets or assistance available via guards or attendants.  The Chiang Mai International Airport is wheelchair accessible and provides wheelchair parking.

We recommend that wheelchair users bring along a battery powered light to attach to  wheelchairs when moving about at night.  We also recommend attaching your country’s national flag to the back of your wheelchair for easy identification.

If you require medications or depend upon urinary supplies, we recommend that you travel with your own supply.  Chiang Mai city has many excellent and high standard medical facilities, including Chiang Mai Ram Hospital.  For private medical consultation we recommend Dr. Tawachai at the Loi Kroa Clinic, or for orthopedic problems, Dr., Sudhee Sudasna.Clinic  on the Chiang Mai/Lamphun ring road.

When visiting our city, please feel welcome to visit our facilities.
