Chiang Mai Disabled Center

Established, staffed and helped to fund a one year, resident computer training program for disabled students at the Yardfon Vocational And Rehabilitation Training Center For The Physically Disabled at Mae Taeng, Thailand. By the year 2002, approximately 150 students had already graduated from this program.

By the year 2002, the Foundation had already published (and distributed free of charge) 4 Thai language books dealing with disability issues, including: a "Polio Survivor's Guide" and supplementary report on PPS; a "Wheelchair User Manual"; a "Self Help Manual For Disabled Persons"; and Thailand's first and only children's book introducing physical disability to Thai children.

The Foundation set up Thailand's first entirely disabled run Disabled Center in the downtown section of Chiang Mai.

In 1999, the Foundation established the Chiang Mai Disabled Center Wheelchair Clinic to produce free wheelchairs and mobility aids for needy disabled children under a wheelchair sponsorship program.

The Foundation sponsored, funded, and implemented disabled parking at all major departments stores and shopping areas of Chiang Mai, including the International Airport.

By mid 2002, the Foundation had provided free classes in English, computer, and music to more than 60 Chiang Mai area disabled persons.

The Foundation regularly assists disabled persons find employment, and has assisted as a bridge
for several local employers who have successfully trained and employed disabled persons.

The Foundation regularly provides medical, surgical, and prosthesis assistance to needy area disabled persons. We have sent children overseas for burn surgery, and locally assisted several disabled persons to surgically correct bone deformities, and other problems.

In cooperation with overseas NGO's we have provided disabled transportation, rehabilitation services, and start up business support for several successful and ongoing disabled owned businesses.

The Foundation has an ongoing social program to provide area disabled persons with special events and outings.
